Clean FR apparels are naturally safer FR apparels, although it is difficult to avoid soiling of the garment with transformer oil, creosote or other types of common jobsite chemicals. Therefore it is necessary to take steps for prevent the contamination of FR clothing items. All FR apparels should be routinely cared for and maintained in order to avoid contaminant buildup which can in turn reduce flame-resistance. Industry standards like NFPA 2113 should be followed for this purpose.
